About Us
Born out of a passion for precision and a commitment to timeless style, Kataphrakt is the result of five years of meticulous preparation. From various prototypes to perfecting the art of horological craftsmanship, our journey has been fueled by an unwavering dedication to offering unparalleled timepieces.
Story that starts from the top
Our Founder, Joshua Kim, always wanted to combine three main ethos into Kataphrakt products. First was to have a stunning design and feel that captivates the audience no matter where the wearer went. Secondly, it needed to have a robust construction for daily reliability and longevity. Lastly, the product needed to be affordable enough so that it outcompetes anything in its price bracket.
As we all know, any one of these ideals by itself is a hard feat to do correctly. Rather than giving up, our founder started to test the products for years, curating different design ideas, mechanical movements, different materials, and trying to come up with ways to reduce shipping times and costs. The result was to relocate our small team a hemisphere away, from New Zealand to a place of watchmaking passion, Hong Kong.
We are proud to say that our product is not for the "elites" where brand supersedes the cost effectiveness of the purpose of the watch, timekeeping and fashion.
